Tourism in Tambo is a megaproject sponsored by USAID, which empowers sustainable tourism initiatives in Tambo, one of the first communities in Colombia that decided to leave behind cocaine crops production, so as to use sustainable tourism as a way to reshape their social and economic development. We train members of the community to equip them with english, entrepreneurship, project management and sustainable tourism development skills, creating new socio-economic opportunities for more than 500 people.

Peace Guides is a project that aims to provide resilience and socioeconomic opportunities for victims of the Colombian armed conflict through tourism, by making their voices be heard at the same time. A 360° perspective for Cauca aims to promote the areas most affected by the armed conflict in the region of Cauca through virtual reality and 360° photography. With this technology, national and international tourists can experience a virtual tour of rural areas which war had previously kept hidden for many years. Now they can visit peaceful territories rich in biodiversity and culture.

“Peace & Coffee” is an initiative established to serve as a visitor centre attraction in Colombia. Here, tourists can learn about victims and former combatants’ stories and current projects. They can experience culture while enjoying drinks prepared with “coffee beans of peace” with the taste of reconciliation, development and harmony.
